Sony RX100 M3 Review : Sensor Performance and Test Results

DxOMark published their test results for the 1-inch type sensor Cyber-shot DSC RX100 III premium compact camera which is currently priced for $596.95 at Amazon.

Sony RX100 III sensor test results shows the camera scored a point of 67 and this is a good score overall. The premium camera placed ahead of rival Nikon 1 models which are using the same size sensor.

DxOMark also says that Sony RX100 M3 has one of the highest scores for color depth (at 22.4 bits) and dynamic range (12.3 Evs). Low-light capabilities remain good for this sensor format as a compact camera. See their conclusion below.

After the official announcement of the high-end compact camera we have posted several comparison tables against its rivals. See here and here.

From DxOMark Conclusion :

As the naming suggests, the new Sony RX100 III may not be the groundbreaking model that the original was, but it’s still at the top of the class and remains untouched for both the sensor performance and the high-end features. Some might criticize the shorter zoom range but the new high-speed maximum aperture combined with the wider 24mm field of view and advanced video capabilities makes the RX100 III, arguably, the most compelling of its type available today.
