By on

Canon is once again rumored to announce the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III lens in mid-Summer.

Canon is allegedly planning to offer a new and affordable alternative to the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens. According to trusted sources, the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III lens is every bit as good as the recent L offerings from Canon and “solves the most glaring weaknesses of the current version.”

The wide-angle zoom optic from Canon with maximum aperture of f/2.8 will be a Mark III version of the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM model, gossips say.

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM

Canon released the high-end EF 11-24mm f/4L USM wide-angle zoom lens in early 2015. Even this is an excellent optic for landscape or architecture photography it is also expensive like around $3,300 at Amazon.

There is no detailed information about the price and specs of this lens. The fast aperture optic is also expected to be lighter, cheaper and easier to use than the EF 11-24 f/4L too.

The upcoming version will definitely maintain its fast maximum aperture and its L-designation. The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM lens is said to be announced next month in June, 2016. The release date of the optic should be at the end of June.

Event and indoor photographers would be very happy with wider focal length version, but the question is the price of this lens. Currently Canon’s first ultra-wide L-series EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM lens which feature image stabilisation is priced for $1,199.
