Sony A7R V Specifications Predictions

By on

Yet another predictions about Sony A7R V specifications are circulating on the web. It is posted six months ago by Dpreview member Semor. For some reason, these circulating Sony A7R V specifications didn’t seem very consistent to us. Now let’s briefly discuss the reasons for this.

At first, the Sony A7R series is a high resolution mirrorless camera model designed not for video shooters but for photographers who care about details. For this reason, we think that the Sony A7R V sensor will be either the 61.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor on the A7R IV or the Sony IMX555CQR sensor, which offers 102MP resolution, which we have mentioned in different articles.

If we consider that the Sony A7R V sensor will be high resolution or at least retain the current 61.2MP resolution, then we see that the specified features such as 8K Full Sensor Read Out, RAW Video Output or 4K 120 will be impossible. And I don’t think Sony will lower down the sensor resolution in mark five of Sony A7R. Anyway here are the latest predictions about the Sony A7R V Specifications :

Sony A7R V Specifications (prediction by SAM)

  • 61MP Full-Frame Exmor Sensor
  • BIONZ XR image processor
  • DCI / UHD 4K 60p/30p Video
  • 8K at 30fps
  • 4K 120FPS and Full HD 240 FPS by using pixel binning algo and slight crop to save up from overheating
  • Up to 6 Stop of IBIS
  • Dual CFExpress A
  • Full Size HDMI like A7S III

It’s a little early to talk about the Sony A7R V full frame E-mount camera. We can foresee that the Sony A7R V announcement will extend to 2022 or at best by the end of 2021. Both of the Sony A7R V and A9R cameras rumored to feature new image sensor and video recording at 6K.

On the other hand, due to the impact of Canon EOS R5 in the camera industry, Sony can secure the business and bring the Sony A7R V announcement early. See the Sony A7R V latest rumors availability details.
