Sony Rumored to Announce a new FE 100-400mm G Lens


Sony Full-frame E-mount lens line-up is growing steadily and, according to the gossip mill, it is about to get even bigger. The company will allegedly announce a new FE 100-400mm G lens soon.

Trusted sources are stating that the lens will be announced in the near future. The details of this lens, such as aperture information, size and weight is unknown at the moment.

The FE 100-400mm G lens is expected to be announced with a high-end mirrorless camera which may well be the Sony A7III or the long-rumored A9 camera.

This is the Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G2 lens. Sony mirrorless users will meet the native E-mount version with 100-400mm focal length soon.

This will become the perfect lens for wild-life, action and sports photographers. No price details have been revealed so far, but we do believe that the optic will be expensive.

When we look at the main rivals, the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens currently costs around $2000. You can expect the sales price to be a little above this.

On the other hand, it is still unclear what the full-frame mirrorless camera will be along with this new telephoto zoom lens. Sony A7III or high-end E-mount camera with 20fps, low resolution sensor and super fast AF (A9).

An exact announcement date has not been provided by the sources. Nevertheless, the Sony FE 100-400mm G lens is expected to become official within the coming weeks probably in late April.
