Zeiss To Announce 3 New FE Lenses at PhotoPlus 2016 in October

Zeiss is planning to introduce three new lenses for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. New Zeiss lenses rumored to be unveiled at PhotoPlus 2016 this October.

The three Zeiss lenses are on the horizon. According to Sony FE-mount camera owners, the expectations are the Batis 35mm f/1.8, 24-70mm f/2, and 16-35mm f/2.8. Currently it is unknown whether the lenses will be all “Zeiss branded” or Batis / Loxia series.

On the other hand new Zeiss optics are expected to become official sometime within the next few months. The rumor mill has previously confirmed that a Milvus 135mm f/2 Apo Sonnar is scheduled for Summer.

The company currently has the Batis 2/25 wide-angle prime and Batis 1.8/85 fast prime lenses for Sony Alpha series mirrorless cameras with full-frame image sensors.

These two lenses are the first full-frame autofocus lenses with an OLED feature. Both optics has been introduced in the market back in July, 2015. The price for Zeiss Batis 2/25 lens is $1,299 at B&HAdorama, the price for Zeiss Batis 1.8/85 lens is $1,199 at B&H, Adorama.

Zeiss is expected to announce 5 new full-frame E-mount lenses and two or three of the lenses planned for 2016. While we can expect two lenses for Photokina 2016 and the other three models might be unveiled this October for the PhotoPlus 2016 event.

There is no FE-mount, guys. Just like there is not “DX-mount” on Nikon ;)… It’s always E-mount. I wonder where this confusion comes from, in the Nikon world nearly noone mixes this up, why in the Sony world?
