The European Imaging & Sound Association (EISA) is an organization representing 50 leading camera, imaging and audio magazines in 20 European countries. Each year it selects outstanding products and technologies from a wide spectrum of audiovisual product categories.

OLYMPUS OM-D E-M10, Compact System Camera

“EISA AWARD European Consumer Compact System Camera 2014-2015”

The OM-D E-M10 is the latest model in Olympus Compact System Camera OM-D series, with the cutting-edge technology into a compact and lightweight body. The E-M10 inherits the 16 megapixel Live MOS sensor and TruPic VII image processor respectively from the high-range E-M5 and E-M1 models for the excellent image quality, high-resolution, and high-sensitivity. This model features an ultra-slim design with an excellent operability, and a quick response, high-resolution electronic viewfinder for authentic shooting style. This is a “SUPER PREMIUM SMALL” Compact System Camera.

The EISA jury was impressed by the affordability of the E-M10 camera, another benchmark Olympus product that straddles the line between professional and enthusiast. “The Olympus OM-D E-M10 harnesses all the qualities that has made the OM-D series so successful and brings them together in a more compact body, at a more affordable price,” jurors explained.

E-M10 has “an excellent, high-quality electronic viewfinder (1,440,000 dots and 120fps refresh rate) and the tiltable LCD monitor that boasts numerous touch-screen control options, including focusing, shooting and exposure control.”

“The E-M10 is fast, too. The shutter lag is only 0.062 seconds, and in sequential shooting mode it reaches 8fps, even when shooting both raw and maximum-resolution JPEGs. The AF is among the fastest of any Compact System Camera and there’s a Focus Peaking option in manual focus mode, too. With Full HD video and WiFi functionality, the E-M10 is one of the best value Compact System Cameras available.”

M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f2.8 PRO, interchangeable lens

“EISA AWARD European Compact System Zoom Lens 2014-2015”

This is a standard zoom lens that conforms to the Micro Four Thirds System standard and features a constant aperture f2.8. This lens features a dustproof and splashproof construction that can withstand even professional use, and is the first model in the “M.Zuiko PRO” high-performance lens category.

This large-aperture standard zoom is the first in the M.ZUIKO PRO category which covers focal lengths equivalent to 24-80mm on a 35mm camera. In addition to dustproof and splashproof construction, its constant aperture value at all focal lengths was one of the requirements from professional photographers for a high-performance lens. This product maintains the brightness of a constant aperture f2.8 for the perfect response to high-grade image creation.

The EISA jury comments: “Being Olympus’s first PRO lens for Micro Four Thirds, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-40mm 1:2.8 is nevertheless affordable for the enthusiast photographer too.”

“This fast and weather-sealed standard zoom has impressive optical qualities, solid mechanical build quality and a superb focus control that combines manual focus with silent, quick AF. It is also a very compact lens, in spite of its fast 1:2.8 maximum aperture. The zoom covers a range from 12mm to 40mm, which makes this lens suitable for landscapes, architecture and portraits, as well as general photography.”
