Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 IS Lens Patent

Canon filed a patent for a new prime lens. The new patent includes Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 IS USM lens and could be the replacement of the current 50mm f/1.4 lens. A new image stabilized Canon 50mm lens said to be announced in 2013.

Even a new 50mm f/1.2L lens is in testing. Canon has three 50mm lenses in their line-up. They are the EF 50mm f/1.2L, EF 50mm f/1.4 and the EF 50mm f/1.8.  It is possible Canon has decided to add IS to the replacement of current EF 50mm f/1.4 lens.
