In a recent interview given by Masaya Maeda (Managing Director and Chief Executive, Image Communication Products Operations at Canon) made some interesting points on the directions Canon might be taking in the future.
He said Canon EOS 70D camera would be coming “Some day in the future. Without fail”. He also mentioned about large sensor compact cameras like Sony RX-100 and added “There is no room for large sensor compact cameras like the Sony RX100.”
Finally for APS-C digital SLR cameras, the future of semi-pro APS-C DSLR cameras is questionable: “That’s something we’re considering at the moment. From our semi-pro users there’s still demand for APS-C but in the future, I think we will see an increase in the number of full-frame models.”
