New OM-5 Could Be Priced $1,599, Cheaper Than OM-1 ?

OM SYSTEM OM-5 is coming soon and according to latest Olympus rumors, the upcoming Micro Four Thirds camera might be much cheaper than the current OM-1.

Latest rumors indicates that the OM SYSTEM OM-5 price could be around $1599. This is not the final pricing yet, but OM Digital has told retailers that it could be this price. The fact that the OM-5 is on sale at this price leads to estimations that it will be a lower-priced model. Maybe with some features omitted from the OM-1 .

In addition, a new OM SYSTEM lens will come along with this OM System OM-5 mirrorless camera.

The US price of the OM System OM-1 camera is $2,199.99 USD check availability at AmazonB&HPhoto and Adorama.

Rumored OM SYSTEM OM-5 Specifications

  • 20MP Stacked BSI Live MOS MFT Sensor  (same OM-1 sensor)
  • 15 fps high-speed continuous shooting
  • Single card slot design
  • 3.6mp EVF
  • AI artificial intelligence detection auto focus
  • Same OM-1 BLX-1 battery
  • Price around $1,599
  • Announcement in late October
  • Shipping will start in November 2022

The Olympus E-M5 Mark III currently sells around $1199 in North America (current retail price is $999), so if the price of the OM-5 becomes $1599 as stated, the OM-5 will be significantly more expensive than the E-M5 Mark III. Considering the OM-5 uses the same stacked sensor as the OM-1, $1599 seems reasonable (the OM-1 retails for $2199).
