Canon EOS R Replacement In The Pipeline? Rumors on EOS R8 | EOS R Mark II

By on

Canon might release the replacement for the EOS R (save $200) towards the end of 2022 or early 2023. According to the latest rumors, Canon’s new generation of mirrorless camera EOS R Mark II prototypes are already in wild. One of the prototypes uses a Digic X image processor and a 30.3-megapixel CMOS sensor just like the one found in the EOS R7 and EOS R10. The camera is able to record High-Quality Images with more details and the ability to shoot uncropped 4K up to 30fps.

You may have noticed that we use two different names for the EOS R replacement model in the title of the article. The reason for this is the rumors that are circulating about this subject and have not yet been clarified.

If one of the two names is going to be the EOS R refresh as expected, it will naturally be called the EOS R Mark II and will be positioned at entry level. On the other hand, the mentioned EOS R8 is seriously talked about for the EOS R renewal model. This EOS R replacement will sit “below” the EOS R6 and will not be a new version of Canon’s entry-level full-frame model.

We will keep you informed on any further update. You can find the list of features revealed so far below.
