In 2022, Canon will release the EOS R5c, a “video focused EOS R5,” according to Canon Rumors.The Canon EOS R5c is coming in the first quarter of 2022. In this post you can find the rumored Canon EOS R5C specifications.
So why is Canon releasing a new mirrorless camera as an update to the EOS R5 that shoots fine video? Canon’s main aim with the EOS R5c will likely be addressing the overheating limitations that dogged the R5. Among the new video features that Canon EOS R5c can add, we can count ‘active cooling’, weight additions and potentially losing weatherproofing to let you shoot high-quality video for much longer. And for all these reasons, we think that the letter “C” in the Canon EOS R5C name stands for cinema.
So what will be the price of Canon EOS R5C after all these feature improvements? We have no indications of its price yet, but the expected pro-friendly features mean it is likely to be a little more expensive than the Canon EOS R5. That means EOS R5C price might stand at $3,899.
Rumored Canon EOS R5C Specifications
- 45mp full-frame sensor (Same as the EOS R5)
- DIGIC X
- Canon Log 3
- Canon Log 2 is still being discussed
- Unlimited 8K30P recording in Cinema RAW Light. XF-AVC and MP4
- Timecode in/out
- The same multipurpose hot shoe as the EOS R3. Which will work with accessories such as the Tascam XLR module.
- Active cooling
- 3/8″ or 1/4″ mounting point on the EVF for a top handle that won’t interfere with the hot shoe.
- Full-size HDMI Port
- The LCD has been moved further back to accommodate the cooling fan. So this likely means that it won’t recess into the body like the Canon EOS R5.
