The rumored FE 14mm f/1.8 GM will be the fastest and widest prime lens in Sony G Master (GM) arsenal and one of the fastest ultra-wide primes on the market. Designed for landscape, nature, street photography and astrophotography; this Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lens will be the world’s fastest 14mm full frame lens ever made. It will be about the same size and build quality as the FE 24mm f/1.4 GM. This means the price tag could be very expensive.
We previously reported that Sony could announce the FE 16mm f/1.8 GM lens in early 2021. It looks like Sony is changing the focal length for this lens, and recent rumors are that it will be the FE 14mm f/1.8 GM. Currently, the widest angle f/1.8 FE lens for Sony mirrorless cameras is the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art FE ($1,599). This 14mm is expected to be smaller and lighter than the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art Lens.
Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM Lens to be Announced Soon
The Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 G Master will supposedly arrive before Summer, giving astrophotographers and wide-angle fiends something to drool over by chopping a full 10mm off of the fastest ultra-wide prime in the current G Master lineup: the FE 24mm f/1.4 GM. This will be an excellent addition to the current Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G lens ($898)
