Sony 34MP Micro Four Thirds Sensor in the Works

A new Sony 34MP Micro Four Thirds sensor is rumored to be in development. This kind of resolution for a MFT sensor is definitely huge and probably for high-end video-centric Micro Four Thirds system cameras.

This is also the perfect sensor resolution for 8K video recordings. We see 8k resolution usually as 7680×4320 in 16:9 aspect ratio. This makes the sensor to be around 33.18MP to offer these values.

According to BCN, Olympus is working on global shutter mechanism. So let’s hope both this 34MP MFT sensor and global shutter fits in another high-end Olympus camera like the OM-D E-M1X  ($2,999 – Adorama | B&H | Amazon) .
