Patent: Canon EF 10mm f/2.8L USM Lens

Canon has filed a new patent in Japan. The new application is for a Canon Ef 10mm f/2.8L wide-angle lens designed for full frame DSLR cameras.

This lens looks like a replacement candidate for the current EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM lens. Note that this is not a fish-eye lens!

If the lens becomes available into production, it will be the widest prime lens for Canon full frame DSLR cameras. See the patent details below.

Japan Patent Application 2018-233223:

  • Focal length: 10.30mm
  • F number: 2.88
  • The half angle of view: 64.54°
  • Image height: 21.64mm
  • Lens length: 124.58mm
