First Zeiss ZX1 Camera Hands-on Preview Report

By on

The new fixed-lens compact, Zeiss ZX1 full frame mirrorless camera is scheduled to be released in early 2019. Here is the first hands-on report of Zeiss ZX1.

As you know the Zeiss ZX1 premium compact camera will come with integrated Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC. It is also confirmed that potential buyers will not be forced to subscribe to Adobe CC.

Zeiss ZX1 comes with a 37.4MP image sensor and a fixed 35mm Distagon F2 lens. It has a huge 4.3″ touchscreen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels to augment its physical controls. Zeiss ZX1 is similar to the Sony RX1. You can see the listing at B&H Photo Video. See the press text and additional coverage.

From Ray Larose:

Holding it in the hand is like nothing else. When I first grabbed it, it reminded me (slightly) of the X1D and much nicer than the Sony RX1R II I had. It’s definitely meatier than the Sony A7R II as well. The slight curve to the body is a dream and fits the hand really well. Raw photos are a dream (even in beta) – a feel that’s really approaching medium format for me. There was something special about the look from this camera. You’ll see once I can share something, though I don’t think I can legally share them at this time (until off a production model). But I’m check with Zeiss legal on that.
