Canon 16-28mm f/2.8 Lens Patent for Full Frame Mirrorless Camera

A new patent filed by Canon. The patent application describes a Canon 16-28mm f/2.8 lens that is designed for a possible full frame mirrorless camera.

Wide-angle zoom 16-28mm lens will be compatible with full-frame sensor Canon cameras , as well as APS-C-sized models where it will provide a 25.6-44.8mm equivalent focal length range.

We still don’t know the exact announcement date of the Canon full frame mirrorless camera. The flagship Canon full frame mirrorless camera will come first, and 6 to 8 months later the lower-end second model will be introduced after the release of the flagship shooter.

Photokina 2018 opens its doors in September. There is a strong chance that Canon will announce or hint a development process before the event.
