Canon patent for 12-385mm f/1.8-4 lens for Micro Four Thirds

Canon has filed a new patent that describes a 12-385mm f/1.8-4 lens. The interesting part is that the optic is designed for Micro Four Thirds sensor camera.

Is Canon joining the Micro 4/3rds line-up! Actually according to this patent details the answer is yes. But when we look at the application that shows the 12-385mm F1.8-4.0 lens is for a camcorder. It would probably feature a Micro Four Thirds image sensor. 

Although it is not directly competitive with Olympus and Panasonic, both will get one more competitors in the market that is Canon 🙂 See below for the patent details.
