Canon Patent for EF 16-40mm f/4 Wide-Angle Zoom Lens

Canon has filed a new patent in Japan. The new patent describes the EF 16-40mm f/4 wide-angle zoom lens which is designed for full-frame Canon DSLRs.

This patent application could be a sign that a replacement for the venerable Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM lens which was introduced in 2003.

The new Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 III wide-angle zoom lens is already in the works and expected to arrive in 2016.
