Panasonic GH5 To Be Announced in 2016

More details are coming for the upcoming Panasonic GH5 as the mirrorless camera is expected to be announced in 2016.

Panasonic GH5 is rumored for the GH4’s successor, according to previous Panasonic rumors, the mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor is said to be capable of shooting 4K videos at 60fps and record 8K videos.

The high-end video centric mirrorless shooter is said to become available at NAB show earlier this year but looks like there will be no GH5 camera coming in 2015. So we’ll have to wait until 2016 next year.

Even no specs and price information is not available at the moment The representative from the company claimed before in an interview that the Panasonic GH5 could capture 4K videos at 60fps and might record 8K videos.

Panasonic GH4 was so popular in 2014 and gained “Gold Award” from Dpreview with a very high score of 85%. The Micro Four Thirds camera is capable of capturing 4K videos at a frame rate of up to 30fps.

The specs list for the Panasonic GH4 camera includes 16MP Live MOS sensor and Venus Engine IX processor with an enhanced fast and accurate Auto Focus (AF) system (approximately 0.07 seconds).

Currently, the Panasonic GH4 is available at Amazon for a price tag around $1,500.

We’ll see, but I seriously doubt it’ll do 8K video. Why? That’s nominally 8000×4000 pixels, thus, 32Mpixels or so per frame. The highest resolution micro four-thirds camera at the moment has a 20Mpixel sensor. Going to that kind of resolution would kill the low light performance… you really want full frame 35mm for 32Mpixel+ sensors.

I hope you’re right. I would way rather see better low light performance and image stabilization before 8k.
