Nikon has released NEF Codec version 1.27.0 and updated lens distortion control data version 2.009.
The NEF codec now supports RAW photos shot with the D810A and Nikon 1 J5 cameras. No additional information was provided for the Distortion Control 2.009 but you can see the supported lenses in the download center.
The L firmware update provides corrections for lens barrel and pincushion distortions. Distortion control data are used to correct barrel and pincushion distortion during shooting and editing. They can be loaded into cameras that support distortion control.
When distortion control is applied to an image either in-camera or through software it corrects barrel or pin cushion distortion that occurs in images due to the characteristics of specific lenses.
Nikon NEF Codec 1.27.0 and Distortion Control 2.009 Released
Nikon NEF Codec version 1.27.0:
- The codec now supports NEF (RAW) photos shot with the D810A and Nikon 1 J5.
- Fixed issue in which NEF (RAW) images could no longer be displayed after file info had been edited in the “Details” tab of the Explorer “Properties” window.
