Rumor : 4K-Ready Canon DSLR to Compete Against GH4

Canon is rumored to be working on a new DSLR camera which is capable of recording 4K videos. The new Canon DSLR with 4k video is said to compete against the popular Panasonic GH4 mirrorless shooter.

The new type of DSLR will have a 1-inch-type image sensor and definitely record videos at 4K resolution. The Canon camera will also be very portable.

The little camera will have a removable viewfinder and grip and will most likely be small enough to be mounted to drones and other like devices.

The rumor mill also in talks of a Canon XC10 4K camcorder which sounds like similar specs to this one.  The rumored XC10 4K camcorder will be aimed at consumers, so it is more likely to be unveiled at CES 2015 in January.

The camera in this rumor is mentioned as “a different type of DSLR“. So it refers to another 4K camera which is in development. According to sources, new Canon DSLR will compete against the Panasonic GH4 and will be unveiled at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show 2015 in April.

The other Canon camera for NAB 2015 is the Canon C300 Mark II, which will replace the C300. The EOS C300 replacement will be a major upgrade over its predecessor and will be capable of recording 4K videos. The C300 Mark II to be announced and become official before the start of NAB 2015.
