Canon Working On New Compact with Large Image Sensor

Canon is currently developing a new premium PowerShot compact camera with large image sensor.

The new Powershot compact will feature a high-magnification optical zoom lens and compact body in response to the demands from users looking for high quality high zoom performance.

According to Canon Hong Kong new press release text, the company has finally started to take Sony and Panasonic’s compact camera game seriously. The latest PowerShot G7 X which is a cheaper model of Sony RX100 Mark III with better zoom but no EVF almost proves that Canon is stepping into the large sensor compact market.
