Inspiring the best in photography

London, UK, 2nd June 2014 – Nikon UK today announces its Ambassador scheme has expanded to include two more photographers, Kate Hopewell-Smith and Bob Martin.

Kate Hopewell-Smith followed her passion for photography after a career in marketing and now specialises in lifestyle photography, reflecting her love of capturing images of people. Bob Martin is a multi-award winning sports photographer with a career that spans over 30 years and has taken him to some of the world’s major sporting events, including London 2012 where he was employed as Photo Chief.

The Nikon Ambassador initiative was introduced last year to both celebrate class-leading photographers working in specific fields of photography, whilst encouraging aspiring photographers to reach their creative potential. The Ambassadors work with Nikon on a range of activities from seminars at key events, to social media and PR campaigns.

Kate Hopewell-Smith, one of two new Nikon Ambassadors, comments: “I’m very excited to have been invited to join the Ambassador scheme, I’m a big fan of the brand and am particularly keen to work with Nikon to encourage female photographers to explore their skills and help give them the confidence to take the next step.”

Kate and Bob join the five strong team of Ambassadors: John Wright – commercial photographer who specialises in fashion and celebrity, Ross Hoddinott – wildlife and landscape photo expert, Mark Seymour – multiple award-winning wedding photographer, Kirsty Mitchell – fine art photographer who is nearing the end of her stunning Wonderland collection and Mark Pain – Chief Sports photographer on the Mail on Sunday with a host of awards under his belt.

Jeremy Gilbert, Group Marketing Manager, at Nikon UK says: “The Ambassador scheme allows us to formally recognise great photography and collaborate with leading photographers at the top of their game.”

He adds: “It also allows us to engage with our audiences on a new level; there’s so much more to photography than product specification. Through the ambassadors we are able to inspire our customers with engaging content and their experience at the cutting edge of technology.”
