New 1 inch Nikon COOLPIX Compact Camera Coming Soon

Nikon is rumored to hold a product launch event in the near future, most likely by the end of June. A new compact camera with a 1-inch-type sensor is on the horizon.

According to recent rumors there may be a chance to see a new 1 inch Nikon Coolpix compact camera soon. The official announcement is expected in the next 1-2 weeks.

The new Nikon Coolpix model will feature a 1-inch-type image sensor made by Aptina. The compact camera will sport a zoom lens with a maximum aperture ranging from f/1.8 to f/3. No focal length detailed in the rumors. More specs can be seen below.

New 1 inch Nikon COOLPIX compact camera body will be magnesium alloy and sport a grip similar to the current Coolpix P5100 and Coolpix P6000.

  • f/1.8 – 3.0 zoom lens
  • Maximum shutter speed: 1/8000 sec.
  • Expeed 3 imaging processor
  • Magnesium body
  • Comfortable grip similar to the Nikon P5100 and  P6000 models

This summer will be the 1-inch type sensored cameras season. Panasonic will launch a 1 inch sensor LX8 on July 13 while Fuji will also launch the 1 inch X30 soon.

This camera is previously rumored as COOLPIX P700 which is said to replace the current Coolpix P600 digital camera.
