DxOMark published their test results for the Leica S medium format camera which is currently priced for $22,995.00 at Amazon.
Leica S sensor test results shows the camera scored a point of 76 and achieves 57th place overall, and comes 7th of the ten medium format cameras in DxOMark sensor rankings database. This is a lower score than expected for a large high-quality sensor like this.
Leica S medium format camera features 37.5MP low noise 30 x 45mm CCD image sensor and includes a 3.0″ LCD and High-Eye Point Viewfinder.

In the rarified atmosphere of professional medium format cameras, the Leica S performs very well indeed. It has both very good color and dynamic range and, surprisingly perhaps, it has excellent low noise characteristics. While it’s clear smaller 35mm full-frame CMOS sensors have better dynamic range and lower noise at ultra-high ISOs, the Leica S is delivers on its promise as being just as adept in the field as it is in the studio.
