How to Install

  1. Check version: Confirm your current firmware in the camera’s version display menu.
  2. Prepare card: Format a memory card in‑camera, then download the firmware and copy the .DAT file to the card’s root.
  3. Update: Insert the card, follow the on‑screen firmware update prompts, and wait until completion.
  4. Verify: Restart and confirm the new version is installed in the camera information menu.

Precautions: Use a fully charged battery, do not power off during the update, and note that updates may take up to ~5 minutes; some data from previous versions cannot be restored.

Should You Update?

If you shoot frequently with the X‑H2 or X‑H2S, updating is recommended. The exposure tracking improvements, linear focus ring control, and stability fixes reduce edge‑case errors and enhance everyday reliability. For mission‑critical work, back up settings and validate on a short test before production.
