Sony A7R III, A7 III, A7R IVA and ZV-E10 Firmware Updates Released

Sony firmware updates for Sony a7R III, a7 III, A7R IV and ZV-E10 cameras. On April 16, 2025, Sony released firmware updates for ZV-E10 Ver.2.02, ILCE-7M3 Ver.4.02, ILCE-7RM4A Ver.1.11, and ILCE-7C Ver.2.01.

It’s good to see Sony is updating old models. Here are the details.

  • Allows the camera to display a notification when new software is available
  • WPA and WEP functionalities are no longer supported. You will no longer be able to select WPA or WEP when connecting to Wi-Fi. Please use the more secure WPA2 moving forward
  • Improves the operational stability of the camera
    Note: This update is only available for Windows and macOS. A memory card version is not provided.

How to Update Your Sony Camera

Follow these easy steps for Sony firmware updates. Once you format the memory card, all the data recorded on the memory card will be deleted and cannot be restored. Before formatting, copy the data to a computer or other device. Please refer to the instruction manual of the camera for compatible memory cards. Make sure that there is only one BODYDATA.DAT file on the memory card.

  1. On the camera, select Menu → Setup → Setup Option → Version.
  2. The system software version is displayed.
  3. Select Menu → Setup → Setup Option → Version and select Software Update.
  4. Select Execute on the system software update confirmation screen and the update starts
