Panasonic has announced the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4 ASPH Micro Four Thirds lens.
This is the second in the series of the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit F2.8-4 premium lenses that reaches the market. The 50-200mm with the same aperture range will be the next in the lineup.
The wide-angle zoom lens offers a focal length between 8-18mm which is equivalent to 16-36mm when mounted on Micro Four Thirds bodies. It has 15 elements, which include ED and UHR glass and four aspherics (one of which is made from ED glass). The lens also has a Nano Surface coating to reduce flare and ghosting.
Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm F2.8-4 ASPH lens is fully weather-sealed and freezeproof to -10C/+14F. Shipping will start in late May with a price of $1,099.99.
