Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 IS STM macro lens might be the next optic for company’s mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, as it has just been registered on the website of a Russian agency.

The rumor mill were claiming that a Canon full frame mirrorless camera is in the works. It is expected to become official at Photokina 2016 event with two other EOS series mirrorless models.

The Japan-based company is actually working on three new mirrorless cameras. One of them is said to feature a full frame image sensor while the other two are APS-C-sized units. Two EOS M models are in the works for the end of 2016. It would be a minor update to the EOS M3, and a 24MP full-frame model aimed at prosumers.

Unfortunately, no detailed specifications about the optic were published. It will be a prime macro model, which will provide a full-frame equivalent of 45mm focal length with a maximum aperture of f/3.5. STM designation also tells us that the lens will focus silently and accurately.

Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 IS STM macro lens will come packed with built-in image stabilization technology which is very helpful in macro photography for vibrate reduction.

Russian agency Novocert registered a new macro lens for the EOS M system. The optic has a name as Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 IS STM macro which appears to be a compact model. Alongside the EF-M 28mm f/3.5 macro lens, Canon might also introduce the Speedlite 600EX-RT II flash gun. Canon might reveal these new products in the near future.

Canon has registered the EF-M 28mm f/3.5 IS STM macro lens on a Russian website. We expected to see a macro and at least 2 more EF-M lenses to come before the end of 2016.
