Sony issued an advisory for the RX1R II camera

Sony has posted an advisory on its support website for owners of the Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R II regarding reported ‘light leak’ issues.

Only a certain set of Sony RX1R II ($3,299 – Amazon | B&H | Adorama) models are affected, with serial numbers falling between 6310198 and 6311127. Users who have experienced photos with ‘unwanted light’ can send the camera to Sony for free inspection and repair if needed.

The company says that this inspection service will be offered through the end of March 2018.

Sony RX1R II Shipping will Start from February 2016

Sony already delayed and pulled out all existing stock of the RX1R II camera because of a light leak. Shipping of the Sony RX1R II camera will resume on February 19th according to this Sony Japan press text.

Sony RX1R II features an advanced BIONZ X image processing engine and Zeiss Sonnar Sonnar T* 35mm f/2 fixed-lens design. The RX1R II supports the XAVC S movie recording format, for capturing the quality of Full HD motion picture footage at frame rates of 60p (50p), 30p (25p) or 24p, and at a high bit rate of 50Mbps.
