Canon Patent for EF 10mm f/2.8L Ultra Wide-Angle Prime Lens

Canon filed a new patent in Japan. The new patent describes the EF 10mm f/2.8L ultra wide-angle zoom lens designed for Canon DSLRs with full-frame image sensors.

This lens looks like a replacement candidate for the current EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM lens. Note that this is not a fish-eye lens!

If the lens becomes available into production, it will be the widest prime lens for Canon full frame DSLR cameras. See the patent details below.
