Canon Rebel T6i & T6s Sensor Issue

Canon EOS Rebel T6s / 760D, T6i / 750D DSLRs has sensor issues. LensRentals.com has discovered issues with the sensors on the brand new Canon EOS Rebel T6s & EOS Rebel T6i. Out of 20 cameras they received the exhibited the following issue.

LensRentals has posted an article about sensor issue on some of new Canon EOS Rebel T6i & Rebel T6s DSLR cameras. After a closer examination with a 10X microscope show the spots are inside of sensor, within the stack and under the top layer of glass.

Possible Issue With T6s & T6i Sensor?

According to LensRentals.com :

The bottom line is that 4 of the Canon T6s and 2 of the T6i cameras we received had to be sent back because of a defect in the sensor stack (the layers of filter glass over the sensor). This is out about 10 copies of each; the others were absolutely perfect.

The affected cameras all had a dramatic pattern that at first we thought was oil or dust on top of the sensor glass.

Later on Imaging Resource got an affected camera and did some tests to see where the dots are on the optical plane, how much the issue affects photos. They say :

Probably the first question to answer is how much these flecks will affect your photos. The answer seems to be not a whole lot, and if you’re shooting at f/8 or f/11 and below, you probably won’t see them at all.

[…] that the white flecks were in fact somewhere inside the optical stack; the shifts in focal distance mentioned above showed the flecks to be about 1.7mm behind the front surface of the stack, and about 2.5mm above the surface of the sensor itself.

Canon will sure explain the details about the camera.

Canon EOS Rebel T6s / 760D, T6i / 750D Price

The EOS Rebel T6s and T6i will be available at the end of April 2015. The Rebel T6s will sell for $849.99 body-only or $1199.00 with EF-S 18-135mm STM kit lens. The EOS Rebel T6i will retail for $749.99 body-only, $899.99 with EF-S 18-55mm STM kit lens or $1099 with EF-S 18-135mm STM lens.
