By on

Canon is rumored to announce the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS replacement telephoto zoom optic in next few months period prior to Photokina 2016 event.

The telephoto zoom model will be the successor of EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens and designed for Canon DSLRs with full-frame image sensors.

The company is busy for the worlds biggest digital imaging show. They are also planning to offer a new and affordable alternative to the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens which might be the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM optic.

The EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS replacement model is expected to be announced following the announcement and shipping of the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM lens. Considering the shipping of this lens some time in July than the announcement of the full-frame zoom lens at Photokina 2016 event makes sense.

On the other hand the successor to the 5D Mark III is rumored for a long period of time as the 5D Mark IV is expected to be announced in August with the same price of its predecessor. The sources are claiming that the Canon 5D Mark IV announcement will include the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS replacement model.

The current 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens with f/4.5-5.6 maximum aperture for Canon EOS SLR cameras comes with 3-stop Image Stabilizer for reducing camera shake; ring-type ultra-sonic monitor (USM). Electro-magnetic diaphragm (EMD) helps create attractive background at large apertures. The Super Spectra lens coating and lens element shaping suppresses flare and ghosting. It has filter thread of 58 mm.

The Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS replacement will definitely include the image stabilization technology for reducing camera shakes but the rumor mill doesn’t mention details about the exact focal length of the upcoming optic. Stay tuned with us for more information.
