New Canon EF 70-200 L Lens in the Works

By on

Canon is rumored to be working on a new L-series telephoto lens. The lens in talks is a possible 70-200 replacement model but the maximum aperture is unknown at the moment.

According to latest Canon rumors, the upcoming L-series telephoto lens will have a focal range between 70-200mm but its unknown if it was going to be an f/2.8 or f/4 lens.

Canon already has filed patent for a new EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II lens back in early 2013.  The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens was announced in 2010 and it took 9 years for a replacement.

This lens is a possible candidate for the next iteration of EF 70-200mm f/4L USM lens which was released in 2006 and has a price tag around $1,000. We guess Canon will put another 70-200 in their lineup, the second version of the image stabilized EF 70-200mm f/4L IS. Maybe the  EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III lens.

The company is also rumored to announce several new L lenses: EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS in the year 2016.

$100 off on Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens: $1,099 at Amazon, B&H, Adorama.
