Nikon Lens Patent for Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras

By on

Egami spotted a new patent filed by Nikon. The new patent describes a 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 VR zoom lens aimed at full frame mirrorless cameras.

A new Nikon lens patent for full frame mirrorless cameras shows up on the web. The patent for the Nikon 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens could also mean that the company may launch a full-frame mirrorless system in near future.

If Nikon 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens becomes a reality for such a FF MILC system than the main competitor will be the FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS lens. The 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 VR patent shows the lens is offering built-in Vibration Reduction technology.

Nikon may be working on a professional mirrorless camera, which could be introduced by the end of 2015. We have to take this with a grain of salt but sure this zoom lens is a big proof of such a system could come in near future.
