Sony Rumored To Announce Full Frame Camera With Black and White Sensor

Sony is rumored to be working on a black and white camera with a full frame image sensor. The new Black and White version of Sony RX series full frame compact camera to be released in late 2014.

The camera will feature higher frame rate as well as a better signal-to-noise ratio than current RX1 / RX1R compact camera. The image sensor will be based on CMOS technology.

The upcoming Sony black and white camera expected to feature a 24 megapixel CMOS sensor. The camera is also rumored to feature +6db S/N gain compared to the color version and resolution of 24MP.

The new Sony black and white camera will compete against the Leica M Monochrom which is also a full frame camera captures only black and white photos. Leica M Monochrome features an 18-megapixel CCD sensor and currently priced around $7,800.

Sony will release the black and white full frame camera towards the end of 2014 or sometime at the beginning of 2015. The price for the Sony black and white camera is expected to be around $3,000.
