Sony is rumored to announce a new f/1.4 large aperture with 85mm focal length prime lens for FE-mount mirrorless cameras in Fall 2015.

According to previous Sony rumors, the sources mentioned two optics that are coming in 2015 which are the Zeiss FE 25mm f/2 and FE 85mm f/1.8 lenses.

The early prototypes of the Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 lens is not labeled as Zeiss. So it is not clear if it will be a Zeiss branded prime lens or a Sony G model.

New Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 Lens to be Announced in September / October

The 85mm f/1.4 lens which is designed for FE-mount mirrorless cameras with full-frame image sensors will sure provide a nice bokeh with its large aperture. This would be good for low-light and indoor photography.

On the other hand, according to the famous Chinese photographer Jia Zhao, 7 New Sony FE Lenses will come to the market in the next 10 months (July 2015 to April, 2016). Currently, there are 15 Sony FE lenses.

If this site is even glanced at by Sony personnel, l would like to ask why Sony is producing yet another lens in the 85-90mm range when we already have the 85mm Batis, the 90mm super sharp Sony and the cost effectivr Rokinon 85mm e mount lens? Why not spend your resources on a 300mm f4 Sony G and produce a reasonably priced 15mm/24mm Tilt shift lens which will bring the system upto par with Nikon and Canon?
