A new teaser for the Zeiss FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS lens showed up online on the Sony Japan website. The company expected to announce the Zeiss FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS wide-angle zoom lens next week before Photokina show.

The new full frame optic has been on the company’s roadmap and the FE mount lens said to be in development and expected to be released in late Summer.

Now the teaser says “coming soon” and the Zeiss FE 16-35mm f/4 wide-angle zoom lens to be announced along with the 28-135mm Powerzoom on September 12 or the day before the beginning of Photokina event (most likely on September 15), sources say.

The Zeiss FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS will be a wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount cameras with full frame sensors. The new Zeiss Vario-Tessar T* FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS lens will be optically-stabilized and feature a constant aperture of f/4 throughout the ultra-wide-angle zoom range.

The Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4G OSS lens has also been displayed at a special product launch event in Japan around May 2014. See the first prototype of the FE PZ 28-135mm f/4G OSS lens here.

The Zeiss 16-35mm f/4 lens is going to be a wonderful addition to the FE-mount line-up for landscape photography and interior shootings. The new wide-angle zoom lens will be priced similar to the Zeiss FE 24-70mm f/4 OSS, which has a price tag around $1,200 at Amazon.
