Nikon has filed a new patent application for 200-500mm f/3.5-5.6 VR and 200-500mm f/4-5.6 full frame zoom lenses in Japan.

The new patent for Nikon 200-500mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens shows that the lens will have 14 elements in 11 groups with one ED glass. The other patent Nikon 200-500mm f/4-5.6 full frame lens design contains 15 elements in 11 groups with one ED glass.

Egami spotted this patent and the patent application number is 2013-97322. In the past, Nikon has another 200-500mm f/4.5-5.6 pantent. Currently only two FX zoom lenses feature 400mm focal length in the lineup
